Calmer switching for motors and fans.

What it does

Every time a relay switches off a motor, fan, transformer or LED driver, the load can throw back a sharp voltage spike. Over time that stresses the relay and can make switching unreliable. The Shelly RC Snubber is a 100 ohm resistor and a 0.1 µF capacitor in series, wired across the load, which gives that energy a safe path to dissipate.

Shelly lists inductive loads as supported on many of its relays on the condition that a snubber is fitted, so it is worth adding one wherever a relay drives a pool pump motor, an extractor fan or a ceiling fan. It has no electronics to set up and does not appear in any app; it simply sits across the load and does its job.

What you need

For use across an inductive load switched by a Shelly relay. It has no app and needs no network.

A registered electrician must fit the snubber across the load, as close to the load as possible. The user guide for your Shelly relay says whether one is needed.
