What it does
Shelly 1 Gen4 is a single-channel relay small enough to sit in a standard wall box behind a light switch or socket. Its contact is potential-free, so it can switch a mains circuit of up to 16 A at 240 V or a low-voltage DC circuit of up to 10 A at 30 V. You control it in the Shelly Smart Control app, from its own web interface, or locally on your network without the cloud.
Because the contact is dry, it is a natural fit for the trigger input of a gate or garage motor, so you can open the gate from your phone or on a timetable. It can also switch the coil of a contactor for a pool pump or irrigation system, which leaves the heavy current to the contactor. Twenty schedules make load-shedding routines simple to set up.
It joins your network over Wi-Fi 6 and works as a Matter device out of the box, or you can switch it to Zigbee and add it to a Zigbee hub, where it also extends the mesh. It acts as a Bluetooth gateway too, bringing Shelly BLU sensors and buttons within range into the app.
What you need
Needs a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network for the Shelly Smart Control app. Matter mode needs a Matter controller, and Zigbee mode needs a Zigbee coordinator.

A registered electrician must fit this relay. On a mains supply it needs a neutral wire at the mounting point, and your electrician can follow Shelly's official wiring guide linked on this page.
